In 1870, Isabella Thorburn College was established as a school. Later, it grew, and on July 12, 1886, it changed its name to Lucknow Woman's College. The fine arts department was the first to be affiliated with the University of Calcutta, and then with Allahabad University. Following the passing of Ms. Thoburn, it was renamed Isabella Thoburn College in 1901. The college is presently associated with the University of Lucknow. It's Asia's first Christian women's college. Since its founding, Isabella Thoburn College has upheld the goal of empowering women via mental and emotional education, which will build their skills and capacities and fortify and empower them to make decisions in the face of hardship.

Isabella Thoburn College, established in 1870, is the first Christian women's college in Asia. It began as a school and expanded to Lucknow Woman's College, later renamed Isabella Thoburn College after Ms. Thoburn's death. The college aims to empower women through mind and heart education, developing skills and enabling decision-making in adversity.
